Improving the health of all people with SLE through personalized care, research, and education.

Welcome to the Duke Lupus Clinic. Staffed by a faculty of 3 rheumatologists dedicated to lupus, the Duke Lupus Clinic is the largest medical service of its kind in the southeastern United States. In addition, under the direction of Dr. Megan Clowse, Duke’s Autoimmune Pregnancy Center is the only lupus pregnancy clinic in the region.

Our missions are patient care, education, and research. We provide compassionate, comprehensive, state-of-the-art treatment for people
with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE). We strive to learn more
about SLE and how it affects the lives of patients. To this end, we offer
the opportunity for patients to enroll in the Duke Lupus Registry. We participate in clinical trials of new treatment options for SLE and are
a member of the Lupus Clinical Trials Consortium. We emphasize
teaching patients and families how to live well with SLE. We also
focus on training young physicians to provide compassionate and
skilled care to patients with SLE.

For 75 years, Duke University Medical Center has been committed to both
the science of medicine and the art of clinical care. The Duke Lupus Clinic
is supported by one of the nation’s most respected hospitals and one of the Southeast’s largest clinic practices. We collaborate with specialists at Duke Medicine with particular interest in SLE to provide timely expert evaluation for the many potential complications of SLE.

We look forward to partnering with you to find new and better
ways to treat SLE.
